The third in the series is on the work of Academic Librarians/Liaison Librarians. Louise Smith and Louise Speakman, the co-chairs of the ALN Academic Librarians Community of Practice, will outline what is involved in working in the role; the different aspects of the role; and how the work can vary from institution to institution.

This series is an opportunity for you to learn a bit more about different roles and areas of library life. It is a series of hour-long sessions aiming to demystify areas of the library service to give you an overview of the sort of work involved and how they fit into the wider service. They consider the types and levels of roles involved in that area of work, outlining whether people tend to be lone workers or part of a team etc. The aim is also to provide a glossary of key terms used in each area to help you understand more about any acronyms and phrases in common use. You can pick and choose which sessions you would like to attend or register for all of them – whichever you’d prefer!
