Theme

Our theme this year is Inclusive learning: advancing access and participation through Equity, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EEDI) practices in library and academic study skills teaching.

EEDI has always been a vital topic but with widening social and economic divides, and a rise in global intolerance, it is more important than ever. Striving to ensure all students have the opportunity to thrive is a goal that unites educators. Understanding and responding to the changing picture of student needs is vital to achieving this inclusive learning environment.

Librarians and study skills professionals play a significant role in advancing EEDI for students in Higher and Further Education and may be required to evidence the impact of this through institutional plans such as Access and Participation Plans in HE.

Themes could include:

  • Universal design for learning
  • Co-production initiatives with disabled students
  • Role of FE/HE library teaching & learning in student wellbeing
  • Impact on the degree awarding gap
  • Evaluating impact of EEDI initiatives
  • Addressing the hidden curriculum for those new to HE

How can we create teaching activities in which all students are given the sense that they belong and the opportunity to thrive?

We request that no more than three attendees/presenter-participants from the same institution book onto this event, since its purpose is to enable sharing of teaching practice between different institutions. Recordings of presentations and materials from the activities will be shared after the event.

Applying to be a presenter-participant

Please complete our presenter-participant application form by 6th May if you are interested in sharing your practice at the event through a 10-minute presentation. There will be time after each presentation for questions.
