Co-Chairs

The Academic Skills CoP is co-chaired by Sarah Kneen (University of Manchester) and Kirsty Hemsworth (Sheffield Hallam University).

Sarah Kneen is Open Research Specialist within the Office for Open Research at the University of Manchester. 

Kirsty is an Academic Skills Manager at Sheffield Hallam University, where she leads two innovative student partnership programmes within the Library’s Skill Centre. Kirsty champions collaborative approaches to academic skills development and digitally enhanced learning.  Her favourite part of chairing the Academic Skills Community of Practice is hearing about small wins in student engagement and participation from across the sector. 

We are currently looking for 2 new Chairs to take over from Sarah and Kirsty. Please drop us an email if you’re interested.

Remit

The Academic Skills Community of Practice is:

• A community of practitioners in information literacy, academic literacy and wellbeing (regardless of job title!)

• An opportunity to share, reflect and develop

• A showcase for new and innovative teaching and learning development practices

• An opportunity to meet and collaborate with colleagues

• The group meets three to four times a year, and is open to new and established staff alike.
